This is an editorial illustration inspired by an article in Frankie magazine about fashion items that had ill consequences, including: arsenic, stiff collars that choked a wearer, crinoline skirts that caught on fire, top hats that cause mad hatter’s disease, and radium, which was applied as lipstick. The main concept for the illustration was using victorian lockets to frame each of the maladies as an illustration within.
