This series takes the pedestal itself as the subject. Traditionally a neutral base, the pedestal elevates an object into significance, but becomes strangely charged when nothing stands on it. My work focuses on this psychological space, while also reintroducing objects to the platform. I construct each pedestal with a dimensional quality, then collapse that status through flat graphite rendering, graphic shapes, and intentional distortions. The result is a diagrammatic space that sits between solidity and uncertainty.

Historically used to support classical sculpture and later abandoned by modernism, the pedestal returns here as an active participant. These drawings explore the symbolic excess of the pedestal: a structure built solely to prop something else up. The objects that appear on these pedestals follow an intentionally absurd logic. They aim for fragility, humor, and emotional ambiguity. Each drawing presents something that wants to be elevated, even when the reason for that elevation is unclear.
