Unreal Estate

Unreal Estate is a drawing series about longing for homes that can’t be owned — because they can’t be built. These imagined structures reject architectural logic and economic reality: stairways to nowhere, windows with no rooms, the ghost territory of a cat who no longer lives there. I started this series during a time when even modest housing felt out of reach. I once stayed in an Earthship — a building made of trash and vision. It was magical. But even now, I couldn’t build one where I live. There isn’t space. Even dreams need land. And land has a price tag. These drawings aren’t nostalgic. They’re refusals. They defy the logic of optimization, property, and permanence. In a world where AI grows more capable and housing grows more absurd, I’m defending the human capacity to imagine otherwise. Unreal Estate isn’t about what’s possible — it’s about what we lose when everything must make sense.
